| The Housing Authority of Murray | Serving Calloway County |
|---|
* Board Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at Noon at the Housing Authority of Murray Main Office Conference Room.
John Resig: Chairman
Mr. Resig is a self-employed engineer. He has served on the Board for 28 years.
Mr. Resig was
sent to Murray in 1945 by the U.S. Navy. He liked Murray so much, that after
his discharge he
returned to Murray and has made it his home for over 50 years. Several people
have asked John,
"Why Murray?" His answer has always been the same -- "Murray
is large enough to take care of
me and small enough to be aware of me." Years ago he decided
it was time to return
some of the good deeds to Murray's people. The first place to start was with
the elderly and
disadvantaged. His experience with dealing with people and his desire to help
others has led
John to a long tenure with the Housing Authority of Murray.
Ruth Daughaday: Vice-Chairman
Ruth Daughaday is a retired supervisor for the Cabinet for Family and Health Services
of the state of Kentucky, where she was employed for 30 years. Prior to that, she taught
at Bourbon County High School. She is and has been on numerous boards and involved in many
community resources. In 2007, she was appointed to the Board for a four year term.
Don Elias
Mr. Elias is the City Administrator for the City of Murray, KY. He has been
a
member of the Board of Commissioners for 12 years; serving on behalf of the
Mayor
of the City of Murray. Don's past experiences in government include: Purchase
Area
Development District from 1975 - 90 in various positions including Transportation
Planner, Planning Director, Manager of the Purchase Public Service Corporation
and Manager of the Purchase Area Housing Corporation. He was employed by the
City
of Murray from 1990 - 95 as City Planner/Grant Coordinator and from 1995 to
present
he has served Murray as their City Administrator.
Nelson Shroat
Mr. Shroat has been on the Board of Commissioners for approximately 5 years.
Though retired, his background in real estate and differing housing markets
has made
Mr. Shroat a valuable asset to the Board. Born and raised in Murray, Nelson
moved away
for several years, living in different cities such as Memphis, Dallas, and New
Orleans. Then
he came home to Murray and sought opportunities to give back to his
home town.
This is how we came to know Nelson Shroat, and we value his experience
to the Board !
Ed Davis
Mr. Davis works for the Purchase Area Housing Corporation located at the Purchase
Area
Development District office in Mayfield. He is also on the Murray City Planning
Commission
and the Murray City Board of Zoning Adjustments as the Planning Commission Representative.
